HOLLIS

GOFF- Raymond Lee Hollis, 82, of Powhattan, formerly of Goff, died Friday, April 21, 2006 at the Hiawatha Hospital.
Raymond was born March 24, 1924 in Whiting, KS, the son of Fred and Mary Snyder Hollis. He grew up in the Muscotah community and had lived in Goff for over 40 years before moving to Powhattan in January of 2005.
Raymond had worked for the Missouri Pacific Railroad/Union Pacific Railroad for over 40 years, retiring in 1988. He and his wife, JoAnn, took care of old abandoned cemeteries for Nemaha County. They enjoyed retirement with summer salmon fishing trips to Alaska.
He was a member of the Goff United Methodist Church, the Goff Lions Club and the Goff Commercial Club.
Raymond was married to JoAnn Monhollon on October 18, 1947 in Goff. She survives. Other survivors include 2 daughters, Jennifer Mueseler and her husband, Frank of Powhattan, KS and Jodene Werner and her husband, David of Tecumseh, NE, his sister, Kathleen MacLamore and her husband, Felix of Twin Falls, ID, 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandsons.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at the Goff United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery at Goff. He will lie in state Saturday and Sunday at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton and Tuesday until service time at the church.
