Raymond Duane Cott, 78, of Hoyt died Tuesday August 9, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka. Raymond was born on October 22, 1932 in Wabaunsee County, KS, the son of Roland E. and Marguerite Freeman Cott.
Raymond was a roofer for Counts Roofing in Topeka before he retired. He had lived in Hoyt since 1992 and in Topeka and Indiana.
Raymond married Betty Jean Creech on May 9, 1953 in Sunman, IN. She survives. He is also survived by his son, William M. Cott of Topeka, KS; his daughter, Jeanetta L. (Eric) Shupe of Holton; sisters, Agnes Lester of Topeka, Pat Simmons of Stover, MO and Belinda Kender of Greenfield, IN; brothers, Cecil Cott of Onaga, KS, and Duane Cott of Greenfield, IN; and 5 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Frank, Isaac and John Cott and a sister, Rachel Lister
Raymond was cremated. The family will greet friends from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Memorials may be given to Holton Community Hospital c/o Mercer Funeral Home, PO Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
