Ralph W. Steele, 89, of Goff, KS died Thursday, August 30, 2007 at Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, MO. He was born August 25, 1918 in Corning, KS, the son of Frank and Edna Frager Steele. He graduated from Corning High School in 1936 and lived all of his life in the Goff and Corning communities.
Mr. Steele was a farmer and stockman and drove the school bus for Goff schools for 30 years. He was a member of the Goff United Methodist Church and the Goff Lions Club.
He was married to Mildred L. "Toddy" Beck on December 15, 1938 in Corning. She passed away on February 11, 2005. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Wanda Nightingale, his brother, Leland Steele and great-granddaughter, Natalie Klusener. Survivors include his sons, LeRoy G. Steele of Overland Park, KS and Darrell D. Steele of Topeka, KS; his daughter, Marcia L. Hunt of Overland Park, KS; 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandson.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at the Goff United Methodist Church in Goff, KS. He will lie in state at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton where the family will greet friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday afternoon. Burial will be in the Corning Cemetery.
