PHOEBE "PEGGY" FOYE

WHITING- Phoebe "Peggy" Foye, 91, of Whiting, KS passed away Monday, March 17, 2008 at Maple Heights Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Hiawatha, KS. She was born January 8, 1917 in Mercier, KS, the daughter of Walter H. and Mollie V. Schraer Moler.
Peggy grew up in Brown, Jackson and Atchison counties and lived all of her married life on the same farm near Whiting, KS. In addition to being a farm wife and homemaker, Peggy was caregiver for her father-in-law, Loren B. Foye, for 25 years. She also worked as a cook at the Whiting schools for 10 years and in the sale barn lunchroom in Hiawatha for 19 years. She was a member of the Whiting United Methodist Church. She also belonged to the Lawn Ridge Club and served as their secretary and treasurer for several years.
She was married to Delbert Francis Foye on December 31, 1937 in Holton, KS. He passed away on July 30, 1990. Peggy is survived by her son, Keith Foye and his wife, Beverly of Whiting, KS; her daughter, Patti Schmitz and her husband, Mark of Hiawatha, KS; 6 grandchildren, Jim Foye, Doug Foye, Kelly Schulte, Vicki White, Janel Schmitz and Matthew Schmitz and 11 great-grandchildren, Daniel, Kirsten and Emily Foye, Travis, Trevor, Trisha and Trent Schulte, Tyler and Whitney White, Tyler Emerson and Ryan Schmitz.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2008 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Interment will be in Spring Hill Cemetery north of Whiting. The family will greet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Whiting United Methodist Church c/o Mercer Funeral Home, Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
