Obituary

HOLTON-Phillip Harris Teeter, Sr., 76, fell asleep in death on February 8th, 2022.  He was born to Nellie Loretta and Floyd Teeter in Jeffersonville, Indiana on July 22, 1945. He was raised by his grandparents, Pete and Goldie May. They moved often for work, so Phil lived in several states growing up, finally settling in Lawrence, Kansas.

After he graduated, he served as a Marine in Vietnam. When he returned, he took up Ironworking, the trade his Grandfather taught him and that he loved. He stayed in the profession for thirty-seven and a half years. It was hard work, but he was a hard worker. He was a respected tradesman and good at what he did. He followed the advice he gave his children, "Take pride in your work, no matter what you do."

On December 10, 1969 he married his beloved wife, Mary. They raised their four children and they enjoyed their 52 years together.

In October of 1975, he was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. This was a dedication that he held through the remainder of his life. Soon after retiring in 2002, he began working for several years in the full-time ministry with his wife. He was able to combine his love for his God, Jehovah, and his love for Ironworking by volunteering to work on theocratic construction projects. This brought him great joy. His love of Bible principles helped him to develop beautiful qualities such as meekness, kindness, generosity, and love. These qualities turned him into the man we all came to know and love. He was known for his positive outlook and big smile.

He is survived by his loving wife Mary, and their four children; Phil Teeter Junior and his wife Bethany, Renae Dicus and her husband Wardell, Anna Mills and her husband Jay, Sarah Edmonds and her husband Dennis. His eight beloved and spoiled grandchildren, James, Kallie and husband Mike, Joshua and wife Madison, Hailey, Jack, Peirce, Landon, and Rylan. And his two great-grandchildren James and Theodora Fare. As well as several nieces and nephews.     Many others viewed him as Dad, Uncle, Grandpa, or Bah.

His siblings included, David Teeter (Willow), Dennis Teeter (Sylvia), Ron Teeter, Bill Boring (Connie), Alice Boring, and Paul Boring (Jamie). And his step-father, Les Boring.
