Patty Mae (Baldwin) Comfort, 75, of Topeka, formerly of Holton, KS, passed away Monday, November 22, 2010 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. She was born March 20, 1935 near Whiting, KS the daughter of Clifford G. and Mary Blanche Wheeler Baldwin.
Patty graduated from Holton High School in 1953 and attended Clarks Secretarial School in Topeka. She worked for the State of Kansas for 25 years. She worked for the Board of Agriculture, the Department of Health and Environment and retired from KNI in December of 1995. She was a member of Civitan in Topeka and the Association of Government Accounts. She was also a past member of the First United Methodist Church in Holton. Patty enjoyed gardening and sewing.
Patty was married to Robert E. Comfort on January 25, 1957 in Holton, KS. They were later divorced. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Keith Comfort, her sister, Maxine Lambert and her niece Janine Lambert. She is survived by her sister, Geraldine Sarensen of Holton, KS; her daughter-in-law, Terri Comfort of Mayetta, KS; her granddaughters, Patricia Peterson (Ryan) of Topeka, Courtney Baker (Shawn) of Holton and Kriston Comfort of the home; her nieces, Judy Lambert of Topeka, KS and Janice Millburn of Tecumseh, KS; her nephews, Greg Sarensen of Basehor, KS and Jim Lambert of Youngstown, OH; and several great nieces and nephews.
There will be a memorial visitation Monday evening from 6:30-8:00 at the First Christian Church in Topeka. Celebration of Patty's life will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday November 30, 2010 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton with the family greeting friends one hour prior to services.
