Patricia Ann “Dolly” Smith, 91, of Holton, KS, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka, KS, with family by her side. She was born November 24, 1934 in Soldier, Kansas, the daughter of Virgil and Edna (Ewing) Burnett.
Pat graduated from Soldier High School in 1952. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was well known for her cooking and baking, enjoyed decorating her home and making floral arrangements. She collected cookbooks over the years. She had a kind, pleasant and gentle way.
She was baptized at Soldier United Methodist Church and had been attending the First United Methodist Church in Holton. She was a member of the Topeka Women of the Moose Lodge, Pleasant Valley Ladies Unit, Banner Ladies Aide and 4-H with her kids, showing mostly cattle.
Pat married Lucern “Smitty” Smith on October 11, 1952 in Holton, KS. He preceded her in death on March 4, 2004, after 51 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Edna Burnett and two twin brothers Warren and Willis. Three children preceded her as well, 2 sons, Timmy Joe Smith, Rickey Smith, and one daughter Brenda Sue.
Survivors include her daughter, Kristie Hundley (Randy) of Holton, KS; son Dr. Delaine Smith (Lt Col, USAF, ret.) of Holton, KS; 2 grandchildren, Shelly Hundley and Brandon Hundley (Deb); 2 great-grandchildren, Abel Lucern and Avery Rose.
Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 31, 2026 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Family will greet friends from 9:30-11:00 a.m. before service time. Pat will lie in state 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Holton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Holton Community Hospital or Heart of Jackson County Humane Society c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
