Oleta G. King, 83, Valley Falls, formerly of Ozawkie and Nortonville, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010, at Village Villa Care Center in Nortonville.
She was born on May 4, 1927, at Ozawkie, the daughter of John and Lilly Meyers Metzger. She graduated from Ozawkie High School and was a member of the former Calvary Baptist Church at Ozawkie.
Oleta was a homemaker and had also worked at Coleman's IGA in Valley Falls. She married Willie M. King on Jan. 14, 1947, at Holton. He died on Oct. 6, 1985. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Everett King, Jr. and three sisters, Lecta Decker, Betty DeBoer and Arlene Payne.
Survivors include two sons, Bill King, Valley Falls, and Lewis King, McLouth; five daughters, Marsha Weishaar and Judy Keirns, both of Nortonville, Vickie Burk, Valley Falls, Darla Kramer, Carbondale, and Lea Ann Schrick, Apex, N.C.; a brother, Alvin King, Oskaloosa, three sisters, Louise Illig, and Darlene Boyette, both of Topeka, and Linda Metzger, Valley Falls; 20 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be at 9:30 a.m., Monday, Oct. 4, 2010, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls. Burial will follow at the Ozawkie Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00-5:00 p.m., Sunday.
