Norman C. Cook, 88, lifelong resident of the area, passed away Wednesday September 29th, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka.
Born on October 13, 1921 in Fairview, Kansas, he was the son of Forest D. and Gladys (Guider) Cook. Shortly after graduating high school Norman enlisted with the United States Army and proudly served his country for 30 years serving in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. In 1946 he married Helen M. Kathrens in Manhattan, Kansas. She survives of the home. Norman was a member of the local VFW post #44.
He is survived by: his wife Helen of the home; his sons, Ron Cook (Brenda) of Whiting, KS, Rick Cook (Lisa) of Seattle, WA, and Ryan Cook (Maryann) of Viera, FL; his daughters Maria Cook (Tom) of Stehekin, WA and Paula Cook of Fairbanks, AK; his sister, Shirley; his brothers, Bill, Jack, Richard, Donald and Tom Cook; and his 7 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Norma Lee, Betty, and Sandra and his brothers, Forest, John and Gene.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday October 5th at Mercer Funeral Home with burial following in Larkinburg Cemetery. The family will greet friends at a visitation Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
