Obituary

Noel H. "Bill" Dickinson, 93, of Holton, KS passed away April 13, 2014 at The Pines in Holton. He was born July 2, 1920 in Hoyt, KS the son of Edward Marion and Eliza Ann (Farner) Dickinson.

Bill attended grade school in a country school near Hoyt, he attended Hoyt High School for 2 years and graduated from Mayetta High School in 1937.He was a member of the Whiting community for over 42 years and had lived in Holton since 1990. He was a farmer and stockman for most of his life. Bill also worked for Goodyear Tire Company for 30 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Holton. He was also a member of the Holton Lions Club since 1967 where he served as past president. Bill served as chairman of the Jackson County Nursing Home board for its first 6 years and was a long time member of Banner Grange.

Bill married Gene M. James on October 18, 1942 in Hoyt. She survives. Other survivors are 2 daughters, Ellen Wallis of Overbrook, KS and Edith Davey of Canandaigua, NY; 2 sons, Jerry Dickinson (Lynne) of Holton, KS and Dennis Dickinson (Cindy) of Spring Hill, KS; 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ann Wallis in 1994 and 3 brothers, Reginald, Edward and Farner Dickinson.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 21, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Holton. Burial will be in the Mayetta Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Memorials may be given to the Holton Lion's Club c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
