Neva N. Douglas, 92, of Mission, KS, formerly of Netawaka, KS, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2026 at Trustwell of Shawnee Mission, with family by her side. She was born December 12, 1933 in Osage Co., KS, the daughter of Elmer N. and Cathryn (Morris) Seastrom. She was raised in Burlingame, KS and lived in Jackson County, KS for over 65 years.
Neva worked for Hallmark Cards in Topeka for 3 years and was a cook and bus driver at Jackson Heights school, retiring after 22 years. She attended the Netawaka United Methodist Church, was a member of Banner Grange 5th Degree and Home Circle Club.
She married Morris D. Douglas on July 22, 1953 in Holton, KS; he preceded her in death on December 14, 2011, after 58 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Cathryn Seastrom; 3 sons, Dennis D. Douglas, Rick D. Douglas and John W. Douglas; 7 sisters, Iona L. Windsor, Lucille Windsor, Mabel Collier, Opal J. Slusser, Naomi Tucker, Dora Couch and Dorothy Sheer and 5 brothers, Earl R. Seastrom, Walt Seastrom, Art Seastrom, Wayne Seastrom and Garold Seastrom; and 1 great grandson, Conrad (Chris and Courtney).
Survivors include 2 sons, Ron J. Douglas (Kathy) of Tonganoxie, KS and Rusty L. Douglas (Pam) of Mayetta, KS; daughter, Kathryn Douglas (John Habernal) of Mission, KS; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, and 1 sister Margie Prescott of Burlingame, KS.
Funeral Service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow at the Netawaka Cemetery. Family will greet friends one hour prior to funeral service. Neva will lie in state Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Jackson County Friends of Hospice or Netawaka United Methodist Church c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O.
