N. Frances O'Neill, 91, of Centralia formerly of Topeka, died Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at Eastridge Nursing Home in Centralia. She was born on March 21, 1917 in Centralia, KS the daughter of Oliver Martin and Gladys Pauline Mitchell Talley.
She attended Eureka Grade School south of Centralia and graduated from Centralia High School in 1935. She was a CNA at the VA Hospital and an EMT.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Topeka, United Methodist Women, N.A.R.F.E., Meade Flower and Garden Club, MADD, Widowed Persons, Rescue Mission Auxiliary, and a Let's Help volunteer.
She married Rollen Aaron "Bud" Nichols on Sept. 27, 1936 in Seneca. He preceded her in death on March 27, 1961. She later married Joseph O'Neill on Nov. 18, 1967 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on May 24, 1986. She was also preceded by her son, Raymond Nichols, in August 1969; a sister, Hazel Sutton in September 2002; a granddaughter, Sharis Meyer in August 2005; and a grandson, Michael Nichols in February 1988.
Survivors include a son, John D. (Darlene) Nichols, of Mayetta; a daughter, Margie (Gary) Thompson, of Hoyt; daughter-in-law, Pastor Joan Nichols of River Oaks, TX; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 21, 2009 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be at the Corning Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
