Obituary

Myrtle M. Bauer Moore, 88 of Polk City, IA formerly of Holton died April 9, 2011 at a nursing home in Polk City. She was born June 8, 1922 in Whiting, KS, the daughter of Andrew H. and Sarah E. Edens Wolfe.
Myrtle worked at the Holton Café. Myrtle and her husband Bill owned Standard Oil Station in Holton and the Liquor Store on Highway 75. They moved to Wichita in 1966 and later to Omaha in 1969. Myrtle was a member of First Christian Church in Holton and Ankeny, IA. She was also a member of American Legion Women's Auxiliary. She enjoyed golfing, bowling and fishing.
Myrtle married William C. Bauer, Jr. on June 9, 1940 in Sabetha, KS. He preceded her in death on March 6, 1978. She later married Edward D. Moore on February 9, 1980 in Polk City, IA, he preceded her in death on January 8, 2009. She is survived by her son, Robert Lee Bauer of Sun City, AZ; her daughter, Shelley Bea Thompson (Steve) of Lakeside, CA; her grandchildren, Jason, Jeremy and Nathaniel Thompson and great granddaughters, Samantha and Sophia Thompson. She was preceded in death by 8 sisters and 3 brothers.
Mrs. Moore was cremated. Memorial services will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday April 16, 2011 at First Christian Church in Holton. Visitation will be 1:00-2:30 p.m. Saturday April 16 at Mercer Funeral Home. Inurnment will be in Holton Cemetery. Memorials may be given to First Christian Church in c/o Mercer Funeral Home, PO Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
