WALLER

HOLTON- Monica "Mitzi" Shoptese Waller, 67, of Topeka, formerly of Holton died Saturday, March 11, 2006 at a Topeka care facility.
She was born March 18, 1938 at Mayetta, Kansas, the daughter of Peter Shoptese, Sr. and Eunice Teresa Greene Shoptese. She graduated from Mayetta High School and received her nursing degree from Okmulgee State University in Oklahoma.
Mitzi had worked as a nurse at Memorial Hospital in Topeka and at the V.A. Hospital in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation and was also a descendent of the Sac & Fox Tribe.
Survivors include a daughter, Lillian Ross of New Town, ND, nephews, Sonny and Faron Shoptese both of Topeka and Mark Martin of Netawaka, a niece, Nancy Martin of Holton, grandchildren, Justina Sockey of New Town, ND and Austin Hester of Evansville, IN. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Waller, a sister, Veronica Martin and brothers, Peter "Sonny" Shoptese, Jr. and Joseph Shoptese.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be in Shipshee Cemetery west of Mayetta. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home. Online condolences are available @ www.mercerfuneralhomes.com
