Mildred L. Berg, 101, Valley Falls, formerly of Topeka and Herington, passed away Monday, March 27, 2017, at Midland Care at Linnwood Park Home Plus at Valley Falls.
She was born April 19, 1915, at Kansas City, KS, the daughter of James L. and Daisy Smelser Turner, Sr.
Mildred married Reuben Berg Jan. 19, 1946, at Atchison. Reuben served in the US Navy for 20 years and Mildred moved with him wherever he was stationed. During WW II she worked in a commissary for US Navy Ship Service when naval vessels were in port for repair and maintenance.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Herington, and the First Christian Church in Topeka. She was a member for over 60 years of the Order of the Eastern Star and held many offices including Worthy Matron. Most recently she was a member of Helena Chapter 210 in Topeka.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Reuben, Sept. 26, 2008; two brothers, Charles and James Turner; and a sister, Mary Ann Jackson.
Survivors include several nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces & nephews and many friends.
