Walter Micheal Jennings, 63, Valley Falls, died Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at his home.
He was born on April 10, 1948, at Leavenworth, the son of Walter and Virginia Martin Jennings. He had attended Calvary Baptist Church in Valley Falls.
Mike had worked at Sunrise Stock Farms and Quality Oil in Valley Falls and at the K-Mart Distribution Center in Lawrence.
He married Kay Mitchell on Oct. 14, 1965, at Topeka. She survives. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Ronald "Corky" Jennings, and a sister, Pat Fleming.
Survivors include two sons, Darren (Denise) Jennings, Valley Falls, and Gregg (Diane) Jennings, Denison; a daughter, Becky (Tim) Herring, Valley Falls; a sister, Linda Hoffsett, McLouth; seven grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2011, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls. Burial will follow at the Valley Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to Jefferson County Friends of Hospice and sent in care of the funeral home, PO Box 6, Valley Falls, KS 66088.
