Obituary

Topeka-Melvin Leroy "Anik-son" Lewis, 63, of Topeka, passed away Friday, May 16, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka. He was born July 26, 1944 in Manhattan, KS the son of Frank and Martha McKinney Lewis.
Melvin retired after many years in the construction business. He was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation and had attended Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church.
Survivors include 2 sons Melvin Lewis II and Dana Lewis both of Mayetta, KS; 3 daughters Kelly Mills of Mayetta,KS, Gena Bennett of Blue Rapids, KS, Shawnee Lewis of Topeka, KS; 2 sisters Delphine Knoxsah of Topeka,KS Gillreath Aitkens of Anadarko, OK; 7 brothers Jerry Lewis, Louis Aitkens, Rogers Dale Lewis, Lymon Shipshee all of Mayetta, KS, Robert Jessepe and Kevin Aitkens both of Topeka, KS, Jeff Lewis of Virginia; an aunt Agnes McKinney of Topeka, KS; 18 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers Frank Lewis, Jr. and Joseph Lewis.
Wake will be Sunday evening, May 18, 2008 at the Danceground Building west of Mayetta, KS. Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 19, 2008 in the Shipshee Cemetery.
