WHITING- Mayetta A. Eubanks Cahill, 82, of Whiting, KS passed away January 30, 2009 at the Sabetha Manor in Sabetha, KS. She was born January 26, 1927 in Lucas, KS the daughter of Archie and Lydia Stevenson Hower.
She graduated from Denison High School in 1944 and earned her teaching degree from Emporia State University.
Mayetta lived most of her life in Whiting and had also lived in Lucas, KS. She had taught school at Lawn Ridge country school near Whiting. She was a homemaker and had worked at the State Bank of Whiting for almost 10 years.
She was a member of the Lawn Ridge Club in Whiting and a member of the Whiting United Methodist Church.
She married Duane A. Eubanks on June 9, 1949 in Topeka, KS. They had two children, Pamela Schumann and her husband, Jim of Netawaka and Larry Eubanks and his wife, Bonnie of Whiting. Duane passed away March 13, 1972. She later married Maurice D. Cahill on September 6, 1981 in Lucas, KS. He passed away in May 1991. Other survivors include her sister, Ruth Sigmund of Holton, KS, 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 6 brothers, Raymond, Milton, Paul, Ted, Warren and Lawrence Hower.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Interment will be in Spring Hill Cemetery north of Whiting. She will lie in state beginning Sunday at the funeral home where family will greet friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening.
