TOPEKA-Virginia "Maxine" Reid, 85, of Topeka, KS passed away December 3, 2009 at Aldersgate Village in Topeka. She was born June 26, 1924 in Vici, OK the daughter of Russell A. and Ocie A. Luck Martin.
She had lived in the Topeka community since 1984 and previously in Holton, KS. She was a child care provider in her home for many years and a homemaker.
She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Topeka.
Maxine married Lewis W. Reid on June 30, 1944 in Beaver, OK. He preceded her in death on June 29, 1995.
Survivors include five sisters, Sarah Elmore of Oceanside, CA, Fern Neal of Marlo, OK, Josie Jackson of Salt Lake City, UT, Opal Nicholas of Wichita, KS, Carol Kuehl of Manhattan, KS and four brothers, Wayne and Dwayne Martin both of Topeka, KS, Lloyd Martin of Silver Lake, KS and Bob Martin of Wichita, KS.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 5, 2009 at the Havensville Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 9:00 – 10:00 Saturday morning at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton before leaving in procession to the cemetery.
