Maurice L. Luscombe, 75, of Topeka, KS passed away Friday, February 19, 2010 at Hospice House in Topeka. He was born August 4, 1934 in Arrington, KS, the son of John H. and May Hill Luscombe.
Maurice graduated from Denison High School in 1953. He served in the U.S. Navy and has resided in Topeka since 1958. He worked for the Topeka Fire Department for 10 years and for the Topeka Post Office for 15 years.
Maurice was Past Master and 32nd degree mason of Masonic Lodge #393 at Mayetta. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite, and VFW Post #1367 in Holton.
He was married to Garnetta Fox on September 26, 1957 in Rockville, MD. She survives. Other survivors include his sons, Allen Luscombe and John Luscombe both of Topeka, KS; his daughter, Tracy Ann Curtiss of Topeka, KS; his sisters, Elizabeth "Betty" Hardy of Orcutt, CA and Dolly Cole of Topeka, KS and 3 grandchildren, Sarah and Caitlin Curtiss and Kyle Luscombe. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Anna Marie Luscombe, Virginia Newman and Martha Salts and brothers, Paul and William Luscombe.
Maurice will be cremated and a Memorial Service and Masonic Service will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. The family will greet friends following the services. Interment will be at a later date at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Topeka.
