Mary Schober, 92, of Holton, passed away Thursday November 4, 2010 at St. Francis Regional Health Center in Topeka.
Born on April 7, 1918 in Hiawatha, Kansas, she was the daughter of Irvin and Anna (Royer) Strahan. She graduated from Hiawatha High School. On October 20, 1946 Mary married Robert "Milton" Schober in Olathe, Kansas. The couple made their home in Holton in 1947. Mary was a dedicated and loving homemaker, wife and mother. She enjoyed playing golf and bowling with her husband. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Holton. Robert preceded her in death on March 25, 2004 after 57 years of marriage.
She is survived by: her son, Stephen (Karen) Schober of Rogue River OR; her daughter Linda (Marvin) Rosenfeld of Redondo Beach, CA; her 3 grandchildren, David Schober (Shauna) of Klamath Falls, OR, Jessica Schober (Jamison) of Springfield, OR and David Rosenfeld (Meghan) of Portland, OR; her 4 great-grandchildren, Madison and Lillian Schober and Alex and Kaylee Dettmer. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Harlan and Dale Strahan.
Graveside Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday November 9th at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Hiawatha, Kansas. There will be no formal visitation. Mary will lie in state beginning Monday at 1:00 p.m. at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the charity of the donor's choice and left in care of Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, 66436.
