Mary Lou Luker, 89, of Holton, Kansas, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2026.

Mary was born on September 12, 1936, in Fort Scott, Kansas, to Charlotte Opal (Bray) Smith and Artie Smith. She was raised alongside her brothers, William and Richard Smith, and her sister, Wanda (Smith) Larson.

On May 8, 1955, Mary married the love of her life, Kenneth Luker. Together they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to family. They shared 53 wonderful years of marriage and were blessed with three children: Tracy Luker (Beth), Sandra Luker, and Kathy Brady-Maxwell (Paul). It brings comfort to know that Mary is now reunited with her beloved Kenneth.

Mary worked for Southwestern Bell, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic. Beyond her career, she was an exceptional homemaker whose greatest joy was caring for her family. She had many talents and enjoyed bowling in a league, sewing, crocheting beautiful blankets, and baking delicious treats for those she loved.

To her family, Mary was the heart of every celebration. She made holidays magical, creating traditions that will be cherished for generations. Birthdays were especially important to her, and every child and grandchild knew they could count on one of Grandma's homemade birthday cakes, baked with love just for them. Her home was always a place of warmth, comfort, laughter, and unconditional love.

Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth Luker; her parents, Charlotte Opal and Artie Smith; her brothers, William Smith and Richard Smith; her sister, Wanda Larson; and her granddaughter, Alicia Marie Priest.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, Tracy Luker (Beth), Sandra Luker, and Kathy Brady-Maxwell (Paul); her nine grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchild; along with many extended family members and dear friends whose lives were blessed by her kindness and love.

Mary's legacy is one of selfless love, quiet strength, generosity, and faith. She leaves behind a family forever shaped by her example and countless precious memories that will continue to bring comfort and joy.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, July 10, 2026 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton, KS. Inurnment at Holton Cemetery will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be given to the Mercer Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses and sent to P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
