LONGENECKER

Mary M. Longenecker, 99, of Denison, died Friday, September 01, 2006 at Medicalodges Jackson County in Holton.
Mary was born May 6, 1907 in Denison, KS, the daughter of McLeod Bently and Bertha E. McDonald Braum. She graduated from Denison High School in 1925 and attended Sterling College for a year. She lived all of her life in the Denison and Birmingham communities. Mary was a homemaker and also wrote the "News from Birmingham" column for the Holton Recorder for many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Holton.
She was married to Howard Longenecker on December 31, 1929 in Denison, KS. He passed away on January 17, 1989. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Kay Lindley Stoddard. Survivors include her daughter, Leah Jo Hale of Topeka, 2 grandchildren Lisa Campbell and Michael Hale and 2 great-grandchildren Michael Hale, Jr. and Madeline Hale.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. The casket will remained closed, but a book will be available to sign beginning Sunday at noon. Interment will be in the Denison Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church c/o Mercer Funeral Home, Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
