BURNETT
HOLTON- Mary J. Burnett, 75, of Holton died Monday, March 6, 2006 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka.
She was born July 8, 1930 in White Cloud, KS the daughter of Delbert and Melissa Grace Solomon Gibbs. She attended Hilltop School northeast of Hiawatha.
Mary had worked as a waitress at various restaurants in Holton. She had also worked for J.C. Penny's and as a cook at Colorado School both in Holton. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Holton.
She was married to Vernon J. "Pete" Burnett on September 17, 1949 in Hiawatha. He survives. Other survivors include her daughters, Nancy Wessel of Goff, Pam Burnett, Jeanne Burnett and Belinda Cashman all of Holton, 3 sisters, Lillian Meyers of Hiawatha, Naomi Fleet of Holton and Rebecca Spaight of El Dorado, KS, 4 brothers, Joe Gibbs of K.C., MO, Harry Gibbs of Nebraska City, NE, Delbert Gibbs, Jr. of Hiawatha and Jerry Gibbs of K.C., KS, 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers, Robert and Marvin Gibbs.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2006 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be in Holton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
