Marvin Dale Bottom, 85, of Soldier, KS passed away Monday, May 16, 2016 at his home. He was born August 6, 1930 in Havensville, KS, the son of Archie Horace and Eulah Hazel (Armstrong) Bottom.

Marvin attended Havensville High School. He had lived in the Havensville, Goff, Onaga, Seneca and Soldier communities. Marvin worked for the railroad, for Nemaha County, custom harvesting and logging.

Marvin proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict; earning Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, United Nations Service Medal and Purple Heart. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #1367 in Holton.

He married Armilda Engles, they were later divorced.

Survivors include a daughter, Teresa Ann Feldkamp of Centralia, KS; 3 sons, Michael Bottom of Lawrence, KS, Kevin Bottom of Wamego, KS and Gregory Bottom of Pawnee, NE; a brother, Gerald "Jerry" Bottom (Almetta "Jackie") Bottom of Soldier, KS; 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patty Ann Bottom; a sister, Lois Irene Mitchell and 3 brothers, Kenneth, Archie Lloyd and Clyde Bottom.

Graveside Service with Military Honors will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Buck's Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Holton V.F.W. Post 1367 c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436. Mercer Funeral Home in Holton is in charge of arrangements.
