TOPEKA- Martha Jean "Marty" Moore, 80, of Topeka, KS passed away December 9, 2008 at Atria Hearthstone in Topeka. She was born April 16, 1928 in Auburn, KS the daughter of Clarence and Ethel Howe Sheets.
She graduated from Washburn Rural High School in 1946 and Jane C. Stormont School of Nursing in 1948. After graduation she worked as an RN for Moser Clinic and Holton Hospital both in Holton, KS; Horton Community Hospital; Dr. Duckett and Dr. Nichols in Hiawatha; Santa Fe Hospital and KNI both in Topeka.
She had lived in Topeka since 1971 and had previously lived in rural Wetmore, KS. She had attended Wetmore Methodist Church.
Marty married William L. Moore, Jr. on July 11, 1948 in Topeka. He passed away January 20, 1994. She was also preceded in death by a son, Gary L. Moore in 2007; 2 half sisters, Ruth & Marie and a half brother, Paul.
Survivors include 2 sons, Steven C. Moore of Topeka, KS and Larry D. Moore of Scranton, KS; a daughter, Vickie J. Moore of Topeka, KS; 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 13, 2008 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be in the Wetmore Cemetery. Family will greet friends one hour prior to service time.
