Martha Eisele, 93, Lawrence, formerly of Valley Falls, died Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at Presbyterian Manor in Lawrence.
She was born on June 20, 1920, at Riverton, WY, the daughter of George and Maria Katrina Foos Ruff. She served as a Seaman 1st Class in the WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service) in the US Navy during WW II.
Her memorable experiences during that time included serving in New York City and at the San Francisco Fleet's Post Office and WAVES Headquarters near Nob Hill.
She married Leonard Eisele on April 16, 1946, at Oakley, KS, and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Valley Falls and Women in Military Service for America Memorial.
Survivors include two sons, Dale Eisele, Grain Valley, MO, and James (Melissa) Eisele, Lawrence; a daughter, Maxine (Wink Davis) Eisele, Hotchkiss, CO; a sister, Helen Morris, York, PA; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at the Valley Falls Cemetery. Family and friends will meet at 10:15 a.m. at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls and then go in procession to the cemetery.
