Maria Agnes Heuertz, 75, Valley Falls, died Thursday, March 12, 2009, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka.
She was born on April 28, 1933, at Deutsch Rasselwitz, Germany, the daughter of Paul and Anna Fuchs.
Maria was a homemaker and had also been a housekeeper and a custodian. She was a member of St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at Valley Falls, St. Mary's Altar Society and the Ladies Auxiliary of Grahem-Herbers Post 3084, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
She married Benedict Heuertz on March 10, 1962, at Hanau, Germany. He survives. She was preceded in death by three brothers, George Fuchs, Eric Fuchs and Bethold Fuchs, and a sister, Elfriede Langenfeld.
Survivors include a son Richard (Angela) Heuertz, Valley Falls; two daughters, Martha York, Valley Falls, and Betina (Bill) Brading, Topeka; a sister, Adelheid Langenbruch, Starnberg, Germany; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and other family members in Germany.
Cremation is planned.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 16, 2009, at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Church in Valley Falls. Inurnment will be at the church cemetery. A Rosary followed by a visitation will be at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls.
