Margaret (Marge) Taylor, 89, of Holton, KS passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka from cholangiocarcinoma.
She was born June 7, 1923, on a farm, northeast of Mayetta, to Lula Sarah Adkins and James Franklin Jones. She graduated from Mayetta High School in 1941 and immediately began working at the Kansas Department of Revenue in Topeka until her marriage to George Harold Taylor on July 8, 1944. Harold preceded her in death on November 24, 1987.
Marge worked for various businesses around Holton and also served as Register of Deeds in Jackson County from 1967 – 1975. She and her husband owned Taylor's Antique Shop from 1975 through early 1990's. Marge was a member of the Evangel United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia McClintock, on August 21, 2009 and by a son-in-law, Gordon McClintock, on October 2, 1991. She was also preceded in death by seven sisters, Nellie Gunselman, Edith Hart, Sarah Jones, Mary Brown, Lillian Betcher, Rose Boyce and Grace Gregory.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy (Edward) DeKeyser of Holton; a grandson, Todd (Cathy) Wells of Mayetta; two granddaughters, Tracy Nichols of Parkville, MO and Trisha (Brad) McAllister of Holton; eight great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
Marge requested that only graveside services be held. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 26, 2012 at the Holton Cemetery. Marge will lie in state beginning Friday afternoon at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Holton Community Hospital Hospice in care of the Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
