Margaret "Ruth" Barnes, 92, of Topeka, KS, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2025 at her home with family by her side. She was born July 14, 1933 in Visalia, CA, the daughter of Mark R. and Bonnie M. (Bedwell) Harry.

Ruth graduated from Barstow Union High School in 1951 in Barstow, CA. She has been a member of the Topeka community since 1952. She was a secretary for Steel Fixture Manufacturing. She also worked for Tent and Awning and later retired from Payless Shoesource in 1975.

She was a member of Rolling Hills Christian Church.

Ruth married Donald D. Barnes on December 3, 1951 in Harrison, AR. He preceded her in death on August 1, 2012; after 61 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Mark and Bonnie Harry; sister, Vivian Kostyal and brother, Rodney Harry.

Survivors include her son, Rick D. Barnes (JoLynn) of Onaga, KS; daughter, Monica L. Barnes of Topeka, KS; 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Memorial Services will be held at a later date. Mercer Funeral Home in Holton is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Topeka Rescue Mission c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS  66436
