Madelyn June Brown entered her Eternal Life on November 8, 2011. At home and surrounded by family and loved ones she peacefully went to the Rest of the Lord. June was born January 13, 1924, to Seth and Mabel Allen in Thurston, Nebraska. The fifth of thirteen children, June enjoyed a close relationship with all her siblings throughout her life. After graduating from Emerson High School in 1941 and Sioux City Business College, June moved to Washington, D.C. and worked for the Department of Defense for 3-1/2 years during World War II. June and Wayne Brown were married on December 30, 1945 in Valley Falls, Kansas and they had eight children. They lived in Artesia, California, for 10 years where June was a secretary for the Red Cross. The family returned to Valley Falls in 1964 where June was a member of the St. Mary's Altar Society. In 1976, June moved to Austin, Texas and worked with Hospice of Austin for nine years. June was preceded in death by her daughter Carol Ann in 1973, husband, Wayne, in 1975 and grandsons Shane in 1972 and Dustin in 2010. Also preceding her were her sister, Doris Moore, and brothers John, Donald, Richard, and Lloyd Allen. She is survived by her children Bradley & Tennia of Austin, Randall, of Austin, Beverly Clark of Winchester, Kansas, Pat & Peggy of Palestine, Texas, Brian & Linda of Plantation, Florida, Jay of Austin and Bart of Austin. She also leaves behind 25 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren. Surviving siblings are Eunice Osburn, Cathedral City, Calif., Tom Allen, Helendale, Calif., Harold Allen, Roy Allen, Evelyn Allen, Lois Kientz and Patsy Frommer, all of Valley Falls. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Church in Valley Falls on Dec. 3, 2011, at
11:00 AM. Interment will be at the church cemetery. An Open House and potluck lunch will be at Kendall State Bank Community Hall, 408 Broadway. B-B-Q and drinks will be furnished. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you please make a donation to your local hospice. Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls is assisting the family with the memorial service.
