HOLTON-Mrs. Mabel Marian Decker Lloyd, 92, of Holton went to be with our Lord on March 4, 2011. She was born October 2, 1918 near Mayetta, Kansas, the second daughter of Leslie Marvin and Sylvia Cecil (Clampett) Decker. She lived in Jackson County, Kansas all her life except for 2 ½ years in Missouri as a child. She attended rural Dodson Hill and Denison schools graduating from Denison High School in 1936.
She married W.D. "Bill" Lloyd on March 4, 1937 in Holton. They lived on farms near Denison and then Holton. Mabel was baptized at the Denison Methodist Church. She attended various Methodist churches over the years and was at present a member of Evangel United Methodist Church in Holton.
She was a homemaker and mother of two sons, Bill Jr. and Phillip James Lloyd. She worked at Slimaker and Horton Dress Factories in Holton between September 1951 and September 1975.
In later years Mabel enjoyed spending time with her cousins, Juanita Cozad, Mildred Alley, Virginia Salts, Edna Coleman, Georgine Coleman and Betty Moser. She had been a member of Holton Hospital Auxiliary, Women Bible Studies and also enjoyed getting together with her friends at sewing club.
Mabel spent five years caring for her husband of 64 years after he had a stroke. He preceded her in death on March 5, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her daughter – in – law, Sandra (Madorin) Lloyd in 2010; her sister, Thelma (Decker) Greenfield and her husband William Greenfield; a nephew, Don Greenfield; a brother Wilbur Decker and his wife Anna Belle Decker and an infant grandson, Mark Yancy Lloyd.
She is survived by her sons, William "Bill" Lloyd, Jr. and Phillip James Lloyd (Ginger); grandchildren, William D. Lloyd III (Betty), Marion Rene´ Lloyd Martin, Rex Roy Lloyd (Brenda), Rebecca Ann Lloyd Carter, Justin James Lloyd (Melissa), Erin Kathleen Lloyd Barnes; step-grandchildren, Lisa Ann Elder (Matthew), Katheryn Kelly Farley (Curtis) and David Matthew Bennett (Tammy); 29 great grandchildren and 15 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Leslie Cecil Decker (Joan); cousins, Juanita Cozad, Mildred Alley, Edna Coleman, Georgine Coleman, Betty Moser, Wayne Castle, Wendell Castle, Nancy Castle; nieces and nephews, Jim Decker (Leann), Jack Decker (Juanita), Dick Decker (Sue), Don Lloyd (Darlene), Kay Wickoren (Ardell), Terry Adams (Kim), Jan Miller (Mike) and Beth Greenfield.
Mabel was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She loved life and loved spending time with her family. Mabel was a very loving and giving person to all who know her and will be sadly missed by all her family and friends.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton with Pastor Kent Rogers officiating. Burial will be in the Denison Cemetery.
