Belvue-Lyle E. Mumaw, 74, of Belvue, Kansas, died Thursday, April 19, 2007 at his home. He was born May 18, 1932 in Onaga, the son of Lloyd and Genevieve Henderson Mumaw.
Lyle graduated from Onaga High School in 1950 and graduated from Pittsburg State in 1954 with a bachelor's degree in teaching. He worked for Goodyear in management for 33 years and retired in 1987. He had also owned and operated Belvue Motor Company from 1967 to 2001. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge # 90 in Topeka, Scottish Rite in Topeka, Arab Shrine of Topeka and a member of the Belvue United Methodist Church. He loved watching his sons and grandsons wrestle and had followed the Team Tiger Wrestling Club at Meriden for many years. He was known as "Grandpa" to all the kids.
He married Treva Joy Armstrong on December 28, 1952 at Bucks Grove. She survives. Other survivors include 2 sons Kyle "Kip" Mumaw of Louisville, KS, Curtis Mumaw of Ozawkie, KS; a daughter Leann DeLong of Topeka, KS; a sister Freda Donovan of Kansas City, MO; 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Claire Mumaw.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Monday April 23, 2007 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be in the Havensville Cemetery. Family will greet friends one hour prior to service time.
