HOLTON – Lucille F. Anderson, 90, of Holton died Monday, January 14, 2008 at a Baldwin City nursing home. She was born September 9, 1917 in Holton, KS, the daughter of Hobart and Ina Thompson Carpenter.
Lucille lived most of her life in the Holton community. She was a homemaker and worked as a cook for the County Home northeast of Holton for 7 years. She was a former member of the Bethany Baptist Church. Lucille married Charles Anderson on October 1, 1940. He preceded her in death in 2005. She is survived by sons, Larry Dean Anderson of Topeka, KS and Gary Gene Anderson of Ottawa, KS; daughters, Frances Shubert of Phoenix, AZ, Norma Jean Bauerle of Vassar, KS and Charlene Sherwood of Baldwin City, KS; a sister, Rachel Brownlow of Holton, KS; 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-granddaughters.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 19, 2008 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be in the Holton Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Jackson Co. Friends of Hospice c/o Mercer Funeral Home, Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
