Obituary

Louise Ellen Scoby, 53, Sabetha, went to be with the Lord at her home on Friday, Nov. 12, 2010, following a courageous bout with cancer.
Louise was born on Jan. 19, 1957, at Holton, the daughter of Dale and Kathleen McCrory Blackwood. She grew up and attended school in the Denison community and was graduated from Holton High School in 1975. She was graduated from Sterling College in 1979. At Sterling she met and later married Jim Scoby on Aug. 5, 1978 at Denison.
Following their graduation from Sterling, Jim and Louise returned to the Scoby family farm and became the fifth generation to own and operate the farm east of Sabetha. After teaching at Powhattan Grade School for one year, Louise chose to be at home with Jim and became a mother to five wonderful children. She rejoiced to see all her family come to know and love Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. She particularly enjoyed attending the Reformed Presbyterian Church at Denison and attending Presbytery Psalm Sings.
Louise fought cancer twice in her lifetime, but thanked God for allowing her ten years rest between those battles. She is now at rest in the presence of her Lord.
Louise is survived by her husband of 32 years, Jim, Sabetha; two sons, Andrew Scoby, and his wife, Jessica, and Eric Scoby, all of Sabetha; three daughters, Jacque Scoby, Aberdeen, S.D., Martha Scoby and Lydia Scoby, both of Sabetha; two grandchildren, Michaela and Ransom Scoby; her parents, Dale and Kathleen Blackwood, Denison; two sisters and their families, Wanda Armfield, Topeka, and Janet Tippin, Shawnee, and many relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, Nov. 15, 2010, at the NorthRidge Church, 316 Lincoln St., Sabetha. Burial will follow at the Albany Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00-5:00 p.m., Sunday, at the church. Louise will lie in state from 1:00 p.m., Saturday until 12:00 p.m., Sunday, at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
Memorials may be made to the Denison Reformed Presbyterian Church, Caring Neighbors and Friends of the Sabetha Community, or to the NorthRidge Church and sent in care of the funeral home, PO Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
