HOLTON- Lorene Carson, 82, of Holton, KS passed away Friday, December 12, 2008 at home. She was born January 19, 1926 in Kearney, MO, the daughter of Lewis W. and Mary Jane Searcy Tapp. She attended Estes Grade School and graduated from Liberty High School in 1943. She also attended William Jewell College in Liberty.
She was married to Robert Carson on July 25, 1946 in Polson, MT. They had lived in Polson for 4 years before moving to Holton in 1950. Robert passed away October 23, 1997. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Fred Tapp. Survivors include her sons, Frank Carson and Dianne and Bruce Carson and Jeanenne all of Holton; her sister, Laura Tapp Binns and Walter of Savannah, GA; her brother, Lewis Tapp, Jr. and Joyce of Liberty, MO; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Lorene was a past member of the 1st Presbyterian Church and had been attending the 1st United Methodist Church in Holton. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, the Friendship Club and the Fraternal Order of Eagles all in Holton. She was also a member of the Moose Lodge #555 in Topeka, KS.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 15, 2008 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Interment will be in Holton Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Jackson County Friends of Hospice c/o Mercer Funeral Home, Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
