Obituary

HOLTON- Loma Rita Ashcraft, 72, of Holton, KS passed away Saturday, November 26, 2011 at the Holton Hospital. She was born January 22, 1939 in Independence, KS the daughter of Cecil J. and Ethel May Barnes Haley.

Loma graduated from Independence High School in 1957. She lived in Topeka for 11 years before moving to Holton in 1968.

Loma had worked at Pellitier's Dept. Store, Fidelity Bank and Hallmark all in Topeka. She worked in Food Service for USD 336 in Holton for 30 years.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Holton and a member of the Northern Cherokee Nation of the Old Louisiana Territory serving as past Tribal Council Member.

Loma was married to Norman Ashcraft on October 31, 1958 in Topeka, KS. They were later divorced. Survivors include her sons, David W. Ashcraft (Debbie) of Holton, KS; Dennis E. Ashcraft (Donna) of Mayetta, KS; Douglas A. Ashcraft (Theresa) of Topeka, KS; and 5 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Louise Geraldine Lawrence.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 1, 2011 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Interment will be in Holton Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Holton Community Hospital (Nursing Services) or NE Kansas Heritage Complex c/o Mercer Funeral Home, Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
