MUSCOTAH- Lois Marjorie "Marge" Gilliland, 83, of Muscotah, KS passed away Monday, February 15, 2010 at the Holton Community Hospital. She was born November 10, 1926 in Larkinburg, KS the daughter of William J. and Margaret Lee Kinkade Bowser.
Marge attended school in Effingham, Kansas. She married Loren M. Gilliland on March 5, 1944 in Holton. He passed away June 23, 2003. They moved to their farm south of Muscotah in 1951 where they spent the rest of their lives. Marge loved her gardening and her flowers. She was a member of the Larkinburg Christian Church and the Ladies' Aide at the church.
Marge is survived by her sons, William R. Gilliland (Donna) of Larkinburg, KS and Randall L. Gilliland of Muscotah, KS; her daughters, Lorena Lawton ("Duke") of Buchanan, MI, Linda Moses of Effingham, KS and Patricia Robinson of Muscotah, KS; her brothers, Gary M. Bowser (Janis) of Holton, KS and Larry C. Bowser (Barbara) of Oskaloosa, KS; sister-in-law, Virginia Bowser of Larkinburg, KS; 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers, John W. Bowser in 1926 and Robert C. Bowser in 1993. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Joan McAllister in 2003.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 18, 2010 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Interment will be in Larkinburg Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Larkinburg Christian Church c/o Mercer Funeral Home, Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
