Obituary
Lois Ann Hewitt, 73, Valley Falls, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014, at her home after a brief illness.
She was born Oct. 13, 1941, at Chincoteague Island, VA, the daughter of Hollis Elmer and Lois Marie Collins Jeffries. She graduated from Leavenworth High School.
Lois Ann was a homemaker. She had worked in the laundry department at Valley Health Care Center in Valley Falls.
She married John Lee Hewitt Sept. 20, 1957, at Leavenworth. She was preceded in death by a son, Gale Hewitt; a grandson, Justin Hewitt; a brother, Richard Jeffries; and two sisters, Claudia Payne, and Louise Knapp.
Survivors include her husband, John, of the home; a son, John Lee (Linda) Hewitt Jr., Valley Falls; three sisters, Juanita Meyer and Sheila Eaton, both of Valley Falls, and Roberta Vasquez, Lawrence; nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 15, 2014, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls. Burial will follow at the Winchester-Wise Cemetery at Winchester. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
