Lois Jean Bell, 77, of Hoyt, KS, died Saturday, October 31, 2009 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. She was born February 29, 1932 on a farm east of Hoyt. She was the daughter of Oliver Jacob and Ella White Bausch.
She graduated from Hoyt High School in 1950. She was a Key Punch Operator for the State of Kansas. She was a member of the Hoyt United Methodist Church, a 50 year member of Order of the Eastern Star, Hoyt chapter, Rebecca Lodge in Oakland, and a life member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary #2187.
Jean married Robert I. Bell on January 19, 1963 in Hoyt. He preceded her in death on March 29, 1993. She was also preceded by a son, John Oliver Bell and an infant daughter, Mary Shannon Bell; sisters, Velda Mitchell, MaJetta Holston, and Leota Faye Bausch. Jean is survived by a son, Robert Bell and his wife, Kathy; step-daughters, Donna Rodgers and Debra Murphy both of Campbellsville, KY; eleven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton, KS. Burial will be in the Hoyt Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
