COPELAND

DENISON- Lloyd J. Copeland, 85, of Denison, KS passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at his son's home in Holton after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born October 26, 1925 in Idana, KS the son of Bernard and Margaret (Ewing) Copeland. He graduated from Clay Center High School and had lived in the Denison community for over 57 years.
Lloyd worked for Goodyear Tire Co. as a tire builder and retired after 30 years; he also enjoyed farming and photography. He was a member of the Denison Reformed Presbyterian Church, a member of Holton Lions Club and Holton Hospice.
He married Kathryn McCrory on May 11, 1948 in Denison. She preceded him in death on December 9, 2002. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Beth Bennett.
Survivors include two sons, Larry Copeland (Karen) of Topeka and Gerald Copeland (Cheryl) of Holton; a daughter, Gayla Copeland of Topeka; a sister, Jenny Hemphill of Pittsburg, PA; three brothers, E. Clark Copeland of Pittsburg, PA, Wilbur Copeland of Lenexa, KS and Keith Copeland of Kissimmee, FL; 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 10:0 0 a.m. Saturday, August 27, 2011 at the Denison Reformed Presbyterian Church. Interment will be in the Denison Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Memorials may be given to the Holton Community Hospital Hospice c/o Mercer Funeral Home P.O.
