Lillian D. Horton, 95, of Holton, KS passed away June 26, 2012 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha. She was born August 24, 1916 north of Wetmore the daughter of J.L. and Cordelia (Hetherington) Davis.


Lillian attended Wetmore High School. She had lived in Holton since 1997 and previously in Whiting for 35 years and Horton for 3 years. She was a cook at Bancroft schools for 5 years and worked at Wilma's Grocery Store in Horton for a short time before working at Horton Garment Company for 16 years.


She was a former member of Horton United Methodist Church and had attended the Presbyterian Church in Holton. She was a member of the O.E.S. #187 in Whiting, a member of Elks Lodge #1741 in Hiawatha and was active in the Horton Hospital Auxiliary.


Lillian married Roy Scott Horton on October 16, 1937 in Falls City Nebraska. He preceded her in death on February 7, 1994.


She is survived by: her sons, James Horton (Cathy) of Lawton, OK and Randy Horton (Marilyn) of Gloster, LA; her daughter, Loudell Johnson (Richard) of Wilmington, DE; her sisters, Evelyn Strough of Sabetha, KS and Eva Schrieber of Soldier, KS; and her 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Lillian was also preceded in death by her son, Jerry Horton in 2008, her sisters, Donna Savage, Edith Allen and Julia Laverentz and her brothers Freeman, Jack and Raymond Davis.


Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday June 30th, 2012 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton with burial following in Wetmore Cemetery. The family will greet friends Friday evening at the funeral home from 7-8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Apostolic Christian Home and may be left in care of Mercer Funeral Home, P.O.
