LeRoy Gene "Wahzockeeya" Maines, 60, of Mayetta, KS passed away unexpectedly Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka. He was born October 21, 1952 in Holton, KS the son of Frank E. and Elizabeth (Rice) Maines.

LeRoy graduated from Mayetta High School. He also graduated from ITT Tech in Kansas City, KS where he earned the highest honors and Swift Truck Driving School in Oklahoma.

LeRoy had worked in various careers including farming, carpentry and for Swift Trucking, Keim Trucking in Sabetha and currently at Prairie Band Casino for 13 years as a heavy duty cleaner. He was a member of Citizen Band Potawatomi Nation.

Survivors include 2 sisters, Shirley Harker of Gallup, New Mexico and Delores Maines of Mayetta, KS and a brother, Richard Maines and his wife Theodora of Topeka, KS.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be in the Shipshee Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday evening.
