HOLTON- Lem Loyd Kemp, 90, of Holton, KS passed away October 15, 2008 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka. He was born August 13, 1918 in Stratford, OK the son of David and Estalee Kemp.
He was a member of the Holton community for 47 years and had previously lived in Garden City. He was the agency manager for Kansas Farm Life Ins. Co. both in Holton and Garden City.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Holton and member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years.
Lem married Dorothy Solomon on November 7, 1936 in Roswell, NM. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Bill Kemp of Shawnee, KS; a step-sister, Vernie Solomon of Oklahoma City, OK; a grandson and 3 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter Cathy Howell on August 19, 2008.
Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 18, 2008 at Holton Cemetery. He will lie in state until 9:45 a.m. Saturday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church c/o Mercer Funeral Home P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
