Obituary

Leland Gerhardt, 88, of Holton, KS passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at the Holton Community Hospital.

He was born December 15, 1924 in Netawaka, Kansas the son of Herman and Bertha (Beaman) Gerhardt. He graduated from Netawaka High School in 1942. He was a grain elevator manager and worked at Jackson Farmers Co Op and retired from Atchison Co Op in 1986. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Holton, the Mustang Campers and the Dusters Campers of Marshal County. On August 13, 1950 Leland married Betty Potter. She preceded him in death on March 9, 2002.

Leland is survived by: his sons, Leland "Mike" Gerhardt, Jr. (Donnita) of Ottawa, KS, Gerry Gerhardt of Holton, KS and David Gerhardt (Linda) of Holton, KS; his daughter Annjlee Springer (Kendal) of Pekin, IL; his sister Bernice Simpson (Lyle) of Hoyt, KS; his 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife he was also preceded in death by his brothers Henry and Albert Gerhardt and his grandson Tyler Gerhardt.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 23, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Holton. Burial will follow in Netawaka Cemetery. The family will greet friends Sunday afternoon from 3-5:00 p.m. at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Memorials are suggested to Jackson County Relay for Life and may be left in care of Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton 66436.
