Leatrice "Joy" Taylor, 72, of Holton passed away after an extended illness Saturday November 6, 2010 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka.
She was born July 10, 1938 in Bethany, Missouri the daughter of Andy "Lee" and Ida Mae (Phillips) Hale. She graduated from North Harrison High School in Eagleville, Missouri in 1956. She attended Gards Business College in St. Joseph Missouri. On March 16, 1957, Joy married Allin "Dale" Taylor in Eagleville, Missouri. She had worked for the Jackson County District Court Office, Logan County Court System in Guthrie, Oklahoma, the State Department of Agriculture in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and later returned to work at the Jackson County District Court Office where she retired from in 1994. Joy was a volunteer for Jackson County Friends of Hospice and was a member of the Jackson County Historical Society for several years. She was also a member of the Evangel United Methodist Church in Holton. On June 19, 1998, her husband Dale preceded her in death.
She is survived by: her son, Allin Dale Taylor, Jr. of Holton, KS; her daughter, Sherri Ladner (Rob) of Holton, KS; her 8 grandchildren, William Jon, Staci, Kerra, Jeremy, Jessica, Jamie, Jodie and Jenny and her 4 great-grandchildren, Rylie, Maddex, Natalie and Mallorie. In addition to her husband, Joy was also preceded in death by her son Steven Lee Taylor in 2009, her daughter, Terri Tuthill in 2000 and her sister, Clella Booton in 2008.
Graveside Memorial Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday November 10th, 2010 at Holton Cemetery with Pastor Kent Rogers officiating. The family will greet friends at a memorial visitation Tuesday evening at Mercer Funeral Home from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Memorials may be given to Jackson County Friends of Hospice or Midland Hospice House and left in care of Mercer Funeral Home, P.O.
