Leah Juanita "Wawnee" Misenhelter, 88, of Holton passed away Tuesday August 16, 2011 at Midland Hospice Care in Topeka.
She was born March 29, 1923 in Hunnington Park, California, the daughter of Edmond C. and Cassie L. (Crithfield) Scott. She attended Rosedale High School in Kansas City, KS. On January 20, 1942, Wawnee married Ellis Adam Misenhelter in Yuma, Arizona. They enjoyed 69 years together before his passing on March 20, 2011. Wawnee was a Cub Scout leader, a Brownie leader and a member of the Platte County Garden Club.
She is survived by her sons, Scott Misenhelter (Suzanne) of Holton, KS, Don Misenhelter (Cathy) of Overland Park, KS and Lance Misenhelter (Laura) of Platte Woods, MO; her two daughters, Janet Shroyer (Jim) of Orlando, FL and Dana Mull (Jim) of Lawson, MO; her sister, Gladys Wilson of Overland Park, KS; 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband she was also preceded in death by her brother Clifford Scott.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2011 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton with burial following in East Slope Cemetery in Riverside, Missouri. Memorials are suggested to the Evangel United Methodist Church c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
