LaVonne Smith, 92, of Denison, KS, passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at The Pines South in Holton, KS. She was born October 1, 1928 in Falls City, NE, the daughter of Paul and Lucy (Vaughn) Kelsay.

LaVonne graduated from Holton High School in 1946. She worked as a cracker packer for Sunshine Biscuits in Kansas City, KS; retiring after 28 years. She was also a homemaker and a true "Farmer's Daughter".

She was a member of Denison Bible Church and longtime member of NRA. LaVonne enjoyed caring for her horses on the farm.

She married Paul A. Smith on December 10, 1949 in Holton, KS. He preceded her in death on May 8, 1997. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Lucy Kelsay; 2 sisters and 4 brothers.

Survivors include 3 daughters, Jane Howlett of Kennewick, WA, Cindy Seneker (Richard) of Kansas City, KS and Gwen Gregory (Charlie) of Denison, KS; 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Graveside Service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at the Holton Cemetery. LaVonne will lie in state beginning Sunday afternoon, September 12, 2021 until 6:30 p.m. and Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
