Gainesville, GA- Lavona Fay Nott Yates, 69, formerly of Jackson County, KS passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at her residence following an extended illness.
She was born May 5, 1940 in Red Bluff, CA the daughter of Paul Devere and Arlene Nellie Bickford Nott. She graduated from 8th grade at Sunnyslope country school in 1954 and from Circleville High School in 1958. She retired from Wal-Mart and was of the Methodist Faith.
Mrs. Yates was married to Gregory Yates, he survives. Other survivors include 4 sons, Marvin Bottom of Deland, FL, Dan Bottom of Tahlequah, OK, Darrin Bottom of Vian, OK, Brian Bottom of Jacksonville, FL; a daughter, Julie Chancellor of Tuttle, OK; 5 sisters, Shirley Pool of Holton, KS, Linda Smith of Wichita, KS, Carol Tipton and Patricia Nott both of Topeka, KS, Beverly Brucken of Soldier, KS; 3 brothers, Gary Nott and Donald Nott both of Topeka, KS, Gregory Nott of Wichita, KS; 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Leslie Nott.
Family will greet friends 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, June 2, 2009 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Mrs. Yates was cremated. Inurnment will be in the Olive Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Midland Hospice c/o Mercer Funeral Home P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436. A memorial service was held May 29, 2009 in Gainesville, FL.
