Laura Jane Foley, 74, Valley Falls, died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010, at a Topeka hospital.
She was born Feb. 20, 1936, at Topeka, the daughter of Clarence V. and Mildred A. Strawn Hefty. She graduated from Valley Falls High School in 1954.
Laura worked for many years for the State of Kansas Appraisal Office and supervised the needs of local county appraisers. She was a member of the Coal Creek United Methodist Church.
She married Paul E. Foley on Sept. 7, 1956, at Valley Falls. He died on March 30, 1996. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, James Hefty and Donald Hefty.
Survivors include three sons, Kevin Foley and Rex (Linda) Foley, both of Valley Falls, and Kent (Susan) Foley, Wichita; a daughter, Rhonda (Ray) Mitchell, Valley Falls; her mother, Mildred Hefty, Valley Falls: a companion, Merle Strole, Valley Falls; 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls. Burial will follow at the Valley Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:30-1:30 p.m., Saturday.
